hi all,
I know that all of this has been discused before, but truth be told i am super freakin fed up. So fed up that /I tried to voice my concern to a certain person who cheats all of the time. She didn't answer so what does that tell ya. Anyway I thought up a suggestion, and im not sure if this has been shared but here goes. What if after 5 or so days of being on the top, the player can't play the anagrams for 2 weeks. Thatway, it gives other that chance to play, and there will be more compitition. Or, we could just stop awarding the points after the 5 times if people still want to play the game because it wouldn't be faire for those who made their honest way to the top 5 times not to be able to play. What does everyone think of this? im just trying to think up stuff.

wow you will? Thanks! I'm really glad you like it, and hopefully we can get something done soon. Even if u guys modified my idea a little, it would just be a shame to see anagram mania taken down. It's my fave game, and many others feel the same I know.

Yeah I like your idea there. Cause I don't play for points, I only play for fun. I mean, you can't use the points for anything. So I play for fun, try my hardest and I play around times like 11 or 12 at night. Different time zones though, and I'll get up to the top or at least the top 3 or 4 then get knocked off by the "regulars" who cheat. I use a generator, but that's like after I squeezed my brain as far as I go. Maybe ban those regular cheats off the game maybe might work?

hey I have a question. Isn't a generator cheating?

Post 6 by Leafs Fan (I'll have the last word, thank you!) on Friday, 20-Aug-2004 8:49:19

Yes, use of a generator constitutes cheating.

I use my brain, and that's it.

Well I don't finish the game if I look the word up. I only look the word up to see what possibilities I could've used. I'd never cheat. Cheating is pointless and besides, what good does it do for your brain if you don't use it? Anagrams is a easy game for me, I've played it before and it's one of my favs and cheating would only bore the game out.

cheating in anagrams would only be possible if there was a prize at the end. As there is no prize at the end now, there's nothing to win as such. Yes, getting to the top of the list is great, but as points are awarded to indeviduals, with each person working for themselves with their own word knowhow, surely if you use a generator or not is irelivant. it would only become a problem if there was, as used to be, a prize as the end of the day. Now there isn't, so those who don't use generators can grow fat on the fact they did it by themselves, and those who use generators can live their sad way. my view anyway.

well, I do see you're point. But why use genorators, it doesn't get you anywhere and who cares if ur at the top. I love trying to get to the top but at least I try. I don't think it's so much hat people are upset with the fact that they're always up there it's that we all know that they cheat which makes it unfaire for someone else who wants their 15 mins of fame

Hi,
Don't know about cheaters. My concern right now is, who thinks up the anagram? The other day the word was "audioprofiles". I used the "anagram" "audioprofile" and was told the word was not in the dictionary. Today, the word is "euphimism". I've spelled this word"euphemism" for as long as I can remember. Can anyone clarify this for me? If, indeed, the word is misspelled, isn't this cheating on a grand scale? Am I misspelling the word or has there truly been an error made? Thanks.

I've seen a few misspelled. Guess it doesn't really change the game. The goal, after all, is to find as many smaller words in the group of letters that you are given.

Post 15 by Jage (Zone BBS, a decade of madness) on Monday, 13-Sep-2004 18:11:39

Oh, and the word audioprofile as one word isn't a valid word, anyway.
We'll see how long t take till someone complains about the new system.

This isn't a complaint but just a suggestion. Obviously I don't know how people are selected but I wonder if maybe two or three people could win double points for words on a specific day and also whether the level at which these double points are awarded could perhaps be dropped to half the words? This would give more people the opportunity to win points. It seems a shame that you can nip onto the game and put in one word and get 100 points, or you can spend ages getting around half the words and still only get those 100 points. What does anyone else thing?
